Which route fits you?
I have a topic
Fill in a short form in Classroom. Gemini designs the deck, then you export it to Slides.
About 5 minutes → Route 2I have a lesson plan
Turn a Doc or PDF you already wrote into slides that follow your lesson stage by stage.
About 5 minutes → Route 3I want to stay in Slides
Start a new deck and let Gemini build every slide inside it, after agreeing a plan with you.
About 8 minutes →Push beyond recall to DOK 2-3. Use examples that suit a school in the UAE. Keep text on each slide short.
Create a presentation from a topic
A short form in Classroom sends a detailed prompt to Gemini, which designs a full deck with images. You review it, then export it as a normal Google Slides file you can edit.
-
1
Open Create a presentation
In Classroom, click Gemini in the left menu, then the Instruction material filter. Scroll down to Start with a prompt in Gemini for Education and click Create a presentation.
-
2
Fill in the form
- Target grade level: 10
- Describe the concept, topic, or activity directions: what the lesson covers.
- Describe the learning goal: what students should be able to do.
- Instructional style: how the lesson runs, for example short teacher input, then Think-Pair-Share and a group task.
-
3
Add the house rules, then Ask Gemini
In Other requests, say how many slides you want and what to include, then paste the AISA house rules. Click Ask Gemini.
Our demo: 8-10 slides. Include a short speech extract to analyse, discussion questions and an exit ticket. plus the house rules.Generating takes a minute or two. Gemini then opens in a new tab with your deck.
-
4
Review the deck in Gemini
The deck appears in a Canvas panel. Use the arrows to flip through the slides.
To change something, type it in the prompt box under the deck, for example Make slide 4 shorter or Add a slide with sentence starters for EAL students.
-
5
Export to Slides
Click Export, then Slides. You can also choose PDF or PPTX for PowerPoint.
-
The exported deck in Google Slides, with images and editable text. 6Open it in Slides
When New slides created appears at the bottom left, click Open Slides. The deck is saved in your Drive and every box is editable.
Images. Our demo deck ended with an Image Sources slide. Keep it, and check each photo suits our community. -
From our demo: a statistic Gemini made up. 7Check every fact
Our demo deck used Recycling reduces our total campus waste output by 40% annually as an example of logos. The number is invented. That is a problem on a slide that teaches students to judge evidence.
- Replace made-up numbers with real, sourced ones.
- Check quotes are real and correctly attributed.
- Check the deck matches your success criteria.
Convert a file to Google Slides
Already have a lesson plan, worksheet or study guide? Gemini turns it into slides and keeps your own content, so the deck matches what you planned.
-
1
Open Convert a file to Google slides
On the Gemini tab, click Instruction material, scroll to Start with a prompt in Gemini for Education, and click Convert a file to Google slides.
-
2
Choose your file
Click Upload from Drive. Search for your file, click it, then click Add.
Best results come from a plan with clear stages and timings, like the one in our demo. -
3
Say what the deck is for, then Ask Gemini
Check the Target grade level, then describe the goal of the presentation and click Ask Gemini.
Our demo goal: Turn this lesson plan into the slides I teach from: one slide per lesson stage, with the speech extract on its own slide and the exit ticket at the end.For a student revision deck, try make a self-paced review of this file instead.
-
4
Review and export
Gemini opens in a new tab with the deck. Flip through it, ask for changes in the prompt box, then click Export › Slides and Open Slides, as in Route 1.
-
5
Check it against your plan
Our 8-slide deck followed the plan in order: Do Now, teacher input, modelling, the full speech extract, Think-Pair-Share, group task and exit ticket.
Why this route is safer. Gemini works from your text, so there's less invented content. Still read every slide, and add images or your own examples where it feels thin.
Create the whole deck inside Slides
Start a new deck and Gemini asks a few questions, shows you a slide-by-slide plan, then builds every slide in the file. Nothing to export.
-
1
Start a new deck
Open Google Slides and click Blank presentation. In the Let's start creating window, click Slides: Create fully editable slides from simple text prompts.
No window, or no Slides option? Your account may not have this feature yet. Use Route 1 or 2, and let the AI & Innovation team know. -
BeforeCreate a slide about
Delete slide and type presentation before you write the rest. 2Choose Create a presentation
The Gemini panel opens on the right. Click Create a presentation.
Watch the prompt box. It still starts with Create a slide about. Change the word slide to presentation, or delete it and write your own prompt in step 3. If you leave it, Gemini may make one slide instead of a whole deck. -
3
Describe the lesson, then send
Make sure the prompt starts with Create a presentation, not Create a slide. Then write one prompt with the grade, topic, number of slides and the activities you want, plus the house rules. Click the send arrow.
Our demo: Create a 10-slide presentation for a Grade 10 English lesson on persuasive speeches. Cover ethos, pathos and logos, and three rhetorical devices. Include a Do Now, a speech extract to annotate, a Think-Pair-Share task, a group evaluation task and an exit ticket. -
4
Answer Gemini's questions
Gemini asks about visual style, how much text you want, and the key learning goals. Pick your answers and click Next.
Text density. Balanced works for teaching slides. Choose Concise if you'll talk over them. -
5
Check the plan, then Approve
Gemini lists every slide it will make. Read the list. If something is missing, type the change in the prompt box first. Then click Approve.
-
6
Let it build
Slides appear down the left side one at a time and Gemini names the file for you. Our 10-slide deck took about four minutes.
When the panel says Your slides are ready, close the panel to see the deck.
-
Every slide is ordinary Slides content you can edit. 7Check what's missing
In our demo, slides 6 and 7 tell students to annotate a short excerpt and the provided transcript, but neither text is in the deck.
- Add the text students need on its own slide.
- Check examples, numbers and any text inside images.
- Trim slides that are too wordy to read from the back of the room.
Make the deck for a lesson you teach next week
- Pick the route that fits what you have: a topic, a lesson plan, or a blank deck.
- Add the AISA house rules to your prompt.
- Get the deck into Google Slides and fix at least three things: a fact, a slide that's too wordy, and something missing.
- If you use Chalkie or another tool, open your last deck from it next to this one and compare the thinking each one asks of students.
Check it
Facts and numbers
All three demo decks had something to fix. Check statistics, quotes and examples, and replace anything you can't source.
Images
Check every photo and AI image suits our community and the UAE context, and keep the image credits.
The thinking
A good-looking deck can still be all recall. Check there's at least one task that asks students to analyse or evaluate.
Student data
Don't upload files with student names, grades or reports to any route.
