The longest season of the AISA athletics calendar. From late November through early February, our gyms and pitches stay full with Basketball, Football, and more.
Winter is "Season Two" across GAAC, ISAC, and EAC. Basketball and Football share the spotlight at every competitive level, with EAC Middle School Cross Country also running during this window. The GAAC Band & Choir Invitational and JEAC Track & Field round out the season.

Basketball is the marquee Winter sport at AISA, fielding teams at every competitive level. Played by FIBA rules with conference modifications — 4 × 8-minute quarters at EAC Middle School and 4 × 7-minute quarters at GAAC. Once a team is up 20 points, the running clock or half-court defense rules apply to keep games balanced.
Football (soccer) runs alongside Basketball during the cooler Winter months. Played by FIFA rules with 2 × 25-minute halves and unlimited substitutions. EAC Middle School plays 8-a-side; ISAC and GAAC play 7-a-side girls and 11-a-side boys at JV and Varsity. Mercy rule caps goal differential at +5 per match.
EAC Middle School Cross Country is run during the cooler Winter window when daytime temperatures permit safe outdoor distance running. The MS race is a 3km course with team scoring based on the placings of the top four finishers. JV and Varsity Cross Country races are organized informally on the same days, but are not part of the official EAC event.
The GAAC Band & Choir festival is a non-athletic Invitational event held during the Winter season. AISA musicians join with peers from across the Gulf region to rehearse, perform, and learn from professional clinicians during a multi-day cultural exchange.
The JEAC Track & Field jamboree is the Winter event for AISA's elementary athletes. Events include sprints, relays, mini hurdles, long jump, high jump, quoit throw, and shot put or softball throw. Equipment is age-appropriate (1kg shot, rubber quoit) and unlimited athletes may participate.
Based on the conference handbook recommended weekend windows. Final dates are confirmed at each conference's Spring meeting.
